Consumer literacy
Label literacy: a neutral checklist
Health content online often mixes editorial, observation, and marketing. This page offers a simple, non-medical checklist to evaluate supplement claims and transparency signals responsibly.
1) Look for clarity (not hype)
- Avoid pages that promise guaranteed results or certainty-based outcomes.
- Prefer pages that clearly separate editorial content from sales messaging.
- Check whether safety, warnings, and policies are easy to find.
2) Verify policies and transparency signals
- Shipping and refund/guarantee policies should be readable and specific.
- Manufacturing standards should be stated clearly when relevant.
- Be cautious with “miracle” language, before/after imagery, or unrealistic timelines.
3) Use primary sources when available
When neutral research-style pages provide primary-source hosting links (e.g., repositories), use them. If a claim cannot be verified, treat it as marketing, not evidence.
Non-medical reminder: for personal decisions, consult qualified professionals.
