Mode of action

The ThermaCare® pain gel has an analgesic and anti-inflammatory effect through its active ingredient Felbinac.

The ThermaCare® pain gel with its ingredient Felbinac belongs to the group of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. The active ingredients, for example, also belong to the active ingredient group of the non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs Ibuprofen, Diclofenac such as Acetylsalicylic acidthat can also be used for pain relief.
These non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs work by blocking the enzyme cyclooxygenase. This enzyme plays an important role in the production of inflammatory and pain-promoting substances such as prostaglandin. An inhibition of the enzyme leads to a significant Reduction of inflammatory and pain-promoting substances. The result is that the pain subsides and the inflammation is stopped.

The ThermaCare® warming plasters have a different mechanism of action. They generate heat through oxidation with the air. The poultices or plasters contain a mixture of different ingredients. These include salt, Iron powder, Activated carbon and water. If the plaster is now unpacked from its airtight packaging, the ingredients contained in the plaster can react with the oxygen in the air, which is known as the oxidation process. Specifically, this means that the ingredients begin to "roast“.
Through this oxidation process, heat is released, which now penetrates into the deeper tissue layers and there to Relaxation of the muscles leads.
