Athletes (joggers, soccer players, etc.) are particularly often affected by diseases of the foot. In some cases, the cause of the foot discomfort cannot be identified at first.
Therefore, the treatment of the foot (e.g. Achilles tendonitis, heel spurs, etc.) requires a lot of experience.
I focus on a wide variety of foot diseases.
The aim of every treatment is treatment without surgery with a complete recovery of performance.

Which therapy achieves the best results in the long term can only be determined after looking at all of the information (Examination, X-ray, ultrasound, MRI, etc.) be assessed.

introduction

The misalignment of the hallux valgus is caused by an imbalance between the ligaments and tendons of the foot.
Due to the increasing stretching of the ligaments but the lack of longitudinal stretching of the tendons, there is an increasing hallux valgus Misalignment.
There are various splint and bandage systems that are mainly worn at night to counteract the increasing misalignment.

Principle of the hallux valgus splint

A hallux valgus splint has the task of correcting or minimizing the misalignment by targeted pulling on the curved big toe.

There are basically different Hallux valgus splint systems with different designs. The basic physical principle is the same for all rails. By pulling on the crooked big toe against the misalignment, the toe should be corrected through continuous stretching.

Rail systems

The different rails (exemplary)

  • Hallufix
  • HalluLoc
  • Ball protection bandages
  • Metatarsal bandage with without Pad

Critical assessment of the rails and their effectiveness

The working principle of the Hallux valgus splints does not address the actual cause of the weak connective tissue. It is a so-called symptomatic therapy, in which an attempt is made to stretch the connective tissue and ligament structures against the deformity.
It is certainly not possible to heal the deformity. To what extent through many years of continuous wearing of the Hallux valgus splint a permanent improvement of the deformity can be achieved or a deterioration can be stopped is unclear.
Objectively, however, the possible results that can be achieved must be assessed as low.
